Reinstall Roblox when the installed application remains broken after a normal restart, especially if the failure occurs across experiences. Before removing anything, confirm that you can sign back in and protect any local work you created in Studio. A reinstall replaces software on your computer; it does not diagnose every connection problem or repair an experience’s own behavior.
Roblox’s reinstallation guidance recommends restarting first. On Windows, it says that installing again can replace damaged files without an initial uninstall; if that fails, uninstalling and restarting before reinstalling is a further option. Choose the least disruptive step that fits what you have already tried.
Decide what result you are trying to change
Write one sentence describing the failure: โThe app closes before its home screen,โ for example, or โThe browser keeps asking me to install.โ Keep any error text. You will repeat the same action after the installation so that you can judge whether it helped.
If the app opens and only one experience disconnects, investigate that narrower symptom first. If a browser never hands over to the app, read the browser launch guide. Reinstalling before identifying the failed stage can cost time without answering the important question.
Prepare before you remove the app
- Know which Roblox username you intend to use and ensure your sign-in method works.
- Save open work in all programs before restarting or ending processes.
- If you use Studio, identify your local project files and make a separate backup in a location you control.
- Keep a note of the original error and the installation source you are replacing.
If you cannot sign into the account, stop before removing the only session you can access and review the account recovery guide. Do not give an outside โrepairโ service your password or verification codes to prepare an installation.
Windows: replace the app through an official route
Close Roblox and run the installer obtained through the official Roblox website if that is the version you use. Allow it to finish before attempting another launch. If you use a store installation, manage that copy through its official store rather than collecting several unidentified installers.
If a reinstall over the existing copy does not help, use Windows’ installed-apps controls to locate the Roblox application you intend to remove. Confirm the app name carefully, uninstall it, and restart normally. Obtain a fresh official copy and complete its installation.
Menu names differ between Windows versions, so use the system’s app-management search rather than following an old screenshot literally. If there are multiple Roblox entries, record their names before acting. Do not remove a similarly named program just to make the list shorter.
Mac: close Roblox, remove the application, and reinstall
The official uninstall instructions describe quitting Roblox and moving its application from Finder’s Applications folder to the Trash. Confirm the item before removing it. Then obtain Roblox again through its official website and follow the installer prompts.
Keep your own documents outside the removal process. If Finder says the application is still running, close it fully before trying again. Avoid downloading a replacement from a search advertisement or an unrelated file-hosting page simply because it appears above the official result.
Do not make folder deletion the default
Removing leftover application data is a separate, more destructive step than a normal reinstall. Roblox’s uninstall article explicitly notes that local Studio places can be affected if you chose to save them in the folder being removed. That is why this guide begins with finding and backing up your work.
Do not paste recursive deletion commands into a terminal from a generic tutorial. If standard removal is insufficient, follow current official instructions carefully or ask support to clarify the exact folder. A path that looks familiar is not enough reason to delete it.
Test once and keep the evidence
After reinstalling, sign into the intended account and repeat the action that originally failed. Try a second familiar experience if the failure involved joining or playing. Write down whether the symptom disappeared, changed, or stayed identical.
If nothing changed, another identical reinstall is unlikely to add useful information. Use the evidence in a support report, or continue with Windows crash troubleshooting if the program still closes. Keeping the before-and-after result is the most useful part of the exercise.
