An account-security check should leave you with two things: better protection against unwanted access and a way back in if you lose your normal login method. Work through these steps while you can still sign in. Store private recovery details somewhere you control, and never put them in a public comment or support forum.
If you are already locked out, start with our Roblox account recovery guide instead.
1. Use a password that belongs only to Roblox
Choose a hard-to-guess password that you have not used for another account. Roblox warns against predictable choices, such as passwords based on your username. Do not share passwords, browser cookies, verification codes, or backup codes. Someone offering an item or reward does not need those details. Roblox account-safety guidance.
Treat a request to โprove ownershipโ by sending a login code as a reason to stop. If you need account help, open the official support website yourself rather than following a stranger’s recovery link.
2. Verify an email you can access
In Roblox, open Settings โ Account Info โ Add Email and follow the verification message sent to that inbox. Under-13 users should ask a parent to verify a parental recovery email. Roblox explains that this can be different from the email used for the parent’s linked Roblox account. Phone verification is available only in certain countries. Roblox email and phone verification.
Before moving on, check that you can open that inbox independently. An address you no longer use is a weak recovery plan. If a parent helps manage the account, agree on where recovery messages will arrive so neither person has to guess during a lockout.
3. Turn on two-step verification
Open Settings โ Security, select your preferred two-step verification method, and complete its setup prompts. Roblox requires a verified email to enable this feature. For authenticator verification, use the current code displayed in your authenticator app. Roblox two-step verification setup.
Stay signed in on your working device until setup is complete. Take time to understand what the selected method requires when you next log in. A security setting is useful only if you know which device or inbox you will need.
4. Save recovery codes and review backup options
In Security, find the recovery-code section and generate a set. Save the codes privately when shown. Each code works once, and generating a replacement set invalidates earlier codes. Roblox also says that losing your main two-step method can require two different verification methods to recover access; insufficient backups may prevent recovery. Roblox recovery-code requirements.
Keep your backup plan separate from the single device you are trying to protect. For example, losing a phone should not also remove your only record of every recovery option.
5. Review where you are signed in
Go to Settings โ Security โ Where you’re logged in. Review the device, approximate region, and last-active information. You can log out an individual session or use Log Out of All Other Sessions. Older sessions may display incomplete information as โUnknown,โ so that label alone does not prove someone broke into the account. Roblox session management.
Use this check after playing on a shared computer or replacing a device. If you see activity you cannot explain, follow the account-recovery guide and secure your account promptly.
6. Understand optional Enhanced Protection
Roblox also documents Enhanced Protection in Security settings. It uses passkeys as the primary sign-in and verification method and has additional recovery requirements. Read the eligibility prompts and recovery implications before enabling it. Roblox Enhanced Protection.
