A Roblox private server is useful when you want to organise a session with a chosen group. Before creating one, check whether the game offers private servers, what the purchase screen says about cost, and who needs access. Planning those three details first can save you from buying a server that does not suit the session you have in mind.
Private servers are available when an experience creator enables them. Roblox’s documented route is the game’s Servers section, then Create Private Server. Review the agreement before confirming the purchase. Roblox: Private / VIP Servers FAQ
Check the game and the purpose
Open the exact game page your group intends to use. Similar names and copied artwork can make search results confusing, so share the page itself with the people you plan to invite. Ask whether everyone can already enter that game normally. Resolve an ordinary access problem before adding a private-server purchase to it.
Be specific about why you want the server. A quiet session with classmates, a family practice round, and a scheduled community activity have different needs. Decide who will organise it, how many people you expect, and whether this is a one-time event or something you intend to repeat.
Read the price and renewal information
Creators set private-server prices. Paid servers can carry an automatic monthly Robux renewal, and the server’s configuration page shows renewal information. Restricting access is separate from cancelling that subscription. Roblox: Private / VIP Servers FAQ
Before confirming, write down the amount currently shown and the date you intend to review the server. Do not assume that a price quoted in a video still applies. If a parent is approving the purchase, show them the actual purchase screen and explain whether the group expects to keep using it.
For a one-off session, decide who will check the subscription afterward. A simple calendar note is useful even when you expect to cancel promptly. Our transaction-history guide can help you review what the account has spent.
Configure access deliberately
Use the three-dot menu beside your server and open Configure. Roblox provides controls for invited users, friend access, and a server link. Account privacy settings can also limit private-server participation. Roblox: Private / VIP Servers FAQ
Start with the people who actually need to join. Check each username against the intended guest rather than adding someone because their avatar looks familiar. Share the invitation through a channel your group already uses and understands. Avoid posting a private invitation in a public comment thread if your aim is a small, controlled gathering.
Keep a short guest list outside the server settings while planning. That lets you compare who you intended to invite with the users you actually added. It also makes it easier to explain a failed invitation without guessing which account a friend uses.
Test with one guest before the session
Ask one invited person to try joining while you are available. Have them report the exact message if it fails. First confirm the game page and invitation, then the username, then the access setting. Changing several settings at once may make the invitation work without revealing which choice caused the issue.
If the guest can join a public session but not your private server, concentrate on the invitation and server access. If they cannot enter the game at all, start with the broader access explanation on their account. Our joining-friends guide gives a useful order for those checks.
Do not ask guests to disable every privacy option. A private gathering should be compatible with the choices they or their parents have made. If it is not, choose another way to play together rather than treating the restriction as something to bypass.
Run a session people can leave comfortably
Agree on basic expectations before starting: who is invited, what activity you are doing, and approximately when you will stop. Make clear that someone can leave without explaining personal details. If the session is for children, identify which adult they should contact if a problem arises.
A private invitation is not a reason to tolerate unwanted behaviour. If someone causes a problem, use the relevant account and reporting tools described in our blocking and reporting guide.
Review or cancel after use
Roblox documents cancellation through the server menu or subscription status in Configure. Check the displayed expiry information after cancelling. Roblox: Private / VIP Servers FAQ
Keep the confirmation and note what you changed. If you only edited who could join, return to the subscription section before assuming renewal has stopped. The useful final check is the server’s displayed status, not whether anyone is currently playing.
